Nursing
Enterprise, Inc. (NEI),
a minority-certified corporation is now an established
Home Health Agency in the metropolitan area with an
excellent reputation for responding to referrals in
a timely manner as well as providing high quality services.
NEI's growth in the past thirteen (13) has been rapid
and there is still the potential for future comparable
expansion.
NEI
has a Corporate Office and two branch offices. The branch
offices are The Center for Home Care (CHC), and The
Private Duty & Contracts Management Division. The Corporate
Office and The Center For Home Care are located in Northeast
Washington, DC. NEI's private Duty Division is located
in Sliver Spring, MD. The day-to-day operations related
to the contract will be managed out of the Corporate
Office and The Center For Hoe Care are located in Northeast
Washington, DC.
NEI
is a minority-certified corporation in Maryland and
the District Of Columbia. NEI's Minority Certifications
are in Appendix A.
Over
the last thirteen (13) years, NEI has assembled a cadre
of health professionals at the executive level with
unquestionable expertise in home health care, hospital
administration/management, information technology in
all aspects of its operations.

NEI's
History & Business Structure
Nursing
Enterprise, Inc. was incorporated on April 10, 1986
as a for-profit corporation in Washington, DC. The founder,
president and sole owner is Myrtle R. Gomez, a nurse
executive.
In
September 1986 a Certified of Need (CON) application
was filed at the State Health Planning and Development
Agency and was approved in April 1987. The approval
of the Certificate of Need was a major accomplishment
for NEI. Attention was then focused on obtaining Medicare
certification. The agency was surveyed during July 1987
and was again successful. Participation in the Medicare
program is a hallmark of credibility and excellence
in the field. NEI obtained participation in the D.C.
Medicaid program in September 1987, and in June 1988,
participation in the home health program of Blue Cross
of the National Capital Area.
In
October, 1988, NEI purchased a 1-county Certificate
of Need (CON) for Maryland and the LaPlata Office of
Consumer Health Services of America. In addition to
the District of Columbia, NEI currently holds CON's
for the following areas:

Montgomery County

Anne Arundel County
In
August 1986, Montgomery County Department of Social
Services (MCDSS) awarded NEI its first contract for
home health cares services. Presently, we have four
contracts awarded by MCDHHS (formerly MCDSS). During
this thirteen-year period, our volume of services to
Montgomery County clients has increased significantly.
The staff of NEI has established and maintained a very
positive relationship with the staff of MCDHHS.

Governance
NEI has a board of directors and a 14 member Professional
Advisory Committee (PAC) consisting of physicians, nurses,
therapists, social workers, pharmacist and consumer
representative, who live and/or work in the Washington,
DC metropolitan area. The members of the PAC volunteer
their services to NEI. NEI's governing body assumes
full legal authority, responsibility and accountability
for it operations.In
addition, the governing body has responsibility for
the following:

Ensuring compliance with standards of regulatory
agencies;
- Approaching
and approving a qualified administrator/supervising
nurse;
- Arranging
for and/or approving other key professional staff
members;
- Adopting
a periodically reviewing by-laws or an acceptable
equivalent; overseeing the management and fiscal
affairs of the agency.
